Sao paulo welcomes Vitoria for 8th round of Brazilian Seria A. The host have interchanged wins and draws in last 4 matches. Their record after 7 games reads 3-1-3 scoring 6 n conceding 6. After winning cruzeiro away from home, they failed to match that result as they suffered a dissapionting loss in their last game when they hosted Atletico PR. They lost 1-2 amidst having the lead at half time.


Vitoria have quite impressed as the season runs in with a good number of draws and some massive wins. They won big names like Corinthians and International on home turf and it remains their two league wins this season. Their last game was a 1-1 draw with fellow promoted Botafogo; a game they tried to rescue a point quite late on in the extra time.


Sao paulo would look to shake off their dissapionting performance here with a good win against Vitoria. They did the double over them the last time Vitoria were seen in the Seria A including a 3-1 win here. With home advantage, I can see Sao Paulo underperforming twice. It might be the obvious pick at only 1.55, but i can only think of one outcome here and so i have to preview it. Still decent value with the home win.


Ac Milan seems to have finally found their rythem in Serie A. Actually, they have only lost once in their last 16 games. And they are currently playing their best football so far this season. The win against rivals Inter, saw them follow up a very controlled 2-0 win at Palermo. They have won their last 3 home games and finally have an almost full squad to choose from.


Alex is expected to return to central def, while Kucka could be rotated for Bertolacci. Menez is close to return, and will feature on the bench again.


Udinese are far from the team they where under Guidolin. This season is no different, and i believe they should be happy staying above relegation right now. Last round, Empoli drew their game late on, but it was more than deserved. They are on a bad run of form and lack quality especially going forward. Natale cant follow up on previous seasons, and Muriel/Herteaux just doesnt cut it.


Udinese will try and defend heavily, but Milan being in great scoring form, i think will get this. With the Milan defense at the same time, being incredibly strong (conceeded 4 goals in 8 games). I think all points in their direction.


Udinese will see a couple of players returning from suspensions.

Barcelona the leader of la Liga and the best team in the world now ( for me and for many of you ) travels to Valencia seeking for the three point when they face the last team in the table, Levante.

AZ Alkmaar vs Partizan

AZ Alkmaar didn’t who anything impressive in Europa League group stage for now with the exception of their home victory over Athletic Bilbao 2:1 in the second round, but even so, the team still has a chance of clinching the knockout stage spot – however, to obtain the first two positions, they will need to get a victory against current Serbian champions Partizan that won over the Dutch side 3:2 in the first round.

After that victory and a defeat at home against Bilbao, the team suffered two defeats from Augsburg which puts them in quite delicate situation – they will need to get a victory here, but then only to look for another one, against Athetic Bilbao in Spain, something that at this moment seems even harder to do. On the other side, AZ Alkmaar didn’t start that well in the domestic league as well, with the team being for long near the relegation zone, but have improved in previous couple of weeks and now are at ninth position with eighteen points – only three points below the play-off placed sides. Defenders Van der Linden (11/0), Haps (11/0) and Lewis (1/0) will miss the game, as well as very experienced forward El Hamdaoui (3/1).



With two victories and two defeats, Partizan still has a chance of progressing to the next round, but most likely, they will need to get something out this game (victory) since the team awaits German side Augsburg in the last round, side that is slowly getting into the right form and with two consecutive victories in Europa League, they do show clear intention to try and play Europa League next Spring.

On the other side, Partizan is having one of the worst seasons in domestic league – at least for now, as the side has five defeats and with 8-5-5 record they stand only at fourth position, already twenty one point away from first placed Crvena zvezda. They even changed a coach during previous month, however it doesn’t seem that the new one, Ljubinko Drulovic, managed to improve something drastically around the club. One of the biggest problem for the team remains their defensive lineup, as the team has conceded 224 goals already in domestic league – more than they usually concede for the whole season. Guests continue to have problems at the back, as they can’t count at central defenders Balazic (10/1) and Ostojic (7/0), left full back Fabrizio (11/0), but also midfielders Stevanovic (8/2) and forward Trujic (8/2), all being sidelined.

AZ Alkmaar will need to attack in this one and search for a victory. I believe they are closer to get it, especially since we have seen plenty of defensive gaps in Partizan’s defense. However, the Serbian side also has some decent potential upfront and can’t be overwritten just like that. Over 2.5 goals seems to be much safer option.

Botev Plovdiv vs Pirin Blagoevgrad

Botev continues to struggle, as the hosts have won only three points from the last five rounds (1-0-4 3/7).


However, Botev is a team with enough potential at least for a place in the middle of the standings in this league and what is also important to be noted: the hosts had really difficult schedule in the previous five rounds (0-2 vs. Litex, 1-2 vs. Ludogorets, 0-1 vs. Levski, 1-0 vs. Montana and 1-2 vs. Lokomotiv Plovdiv), while now Botev will face the team with the lowest potential in the league.


Pirin is the only team in the league still without a single win since the beginning of the new season, as the guests lost eight times in the previous twelve rounds, while the other four encounters ended with draws (0-4-8 2/14).


In the matter of fact, the guests showed decent play in defense in most of their games so far this season, but the attack is obviously Achilles’ heel of this team: only two goals in the previous twelve rounds and not a single goal in the last three games against Cherno More (0-1/away), Slavia (0-0/away) and Beroe (0-1/home).


In addition to that, the guests will travel to Plovdiv without three important players in Toni Tasev (d / 10-0), Yulian Popev (d / 10-0) and Dimitar Blagov (m / 6+0), while Aleksandar Kolev (f / 11+2) is the only player, who will miss this match for the home team.


Botev excels Pirin in terms of quality of the players and experience, while home court advantage is also an important factor in such games.

 England welcome Estonia to Wembley on Friday night and really should get a convincing win. Roy Hodgson’s men are comfortably the best team in the group and are more than capable of winning all their remaining games considering the poor opposition. Qualifying for tournaments is not an issue as the pressure is off – if England slip up once then the probability is they will win the next game and still qualify. The problem comes when the pressure is on during the actual tournament and a bad result makes it difficult to progress.


Reporting for England duty will be a relief for the players, and allow them to escape from the poor performances of their clubs in the Premier League. This is an unusual situation for the players, as usually reporting for international duty seems to be a hinderance rather than something to look forward. I expect England to enjoy this match and put on a performance. Rooney should start in a central striker position and I expect a strong starting line up and a few goals. England to cover a two goal handicap is the bet that takes my eye, and I will be backing this at odds of 2.20.
